“Wildlife” is a word we use to describe all wild animals. It includes all animals that live in the wild but here in this blog, it includes the wildlife that decides to leave their natural habitat and starts living with humans. Wildlife includes all mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, etc. Here we will discuss a few of them that are extremely irritating and people need to get rid of them.
Skunks are mammals known for their ability to spray a liquid with a strong unpleasant smell. Different species of skunk vary in appearance from black and white to brown, cream or ginger colored. Skunks are classified as pests due to their odor and digging ability.
Skunks are usually found living under deck or porch, in the yard digging hole. Skunks are active foragers. If you happen to notice a skunk residing in a den, there is a good chance it will be gone in a matter of days. They move from site to site to find new sources of food.
You get rid of skunks you need to install an exclusion barrier around the perimeter of the deck, so that they are unable to crawl under. Do not leave food open which will attract the skunks. If they are a bigger problem then call in a professional.
Bandit-masked raccoons are a familiar sight just about everywhere, because they will eat just about anything. Raccoons are adaptable and use their dexterous front paws and long fingers to find and feast on a wide variety of fare.
Because they are primarily nocturnal, they rest during the day time. They usually hide in trees but do not live there. They are a minor nuisance in fields and gardens, but are valuable as destroyers of insects; their durable fur is used for coats and trimmings. A good climber, it often nests in a hollow tree or climbs aloft for refuge.
Raccoons are considered as pests because they cause a lot of property damage. More information about raccoons being pests can be found on blog about raccoons
Several different birds may pose a nuisance for several different reasons. Birds like pigeons, woodpecker and Canada goose cause trouble to humans. Woodpeckers can be a problem when they decide to drum on holes in a wooden house. Canada geese can form very large flocks, and leave behind a ton of droppings on a property.
Feral pigeons are often considered a pest or even vermin, owing to concern that they spread disease especially bird flu. But it is rare that a pigeon will transmit a disease to humans due to their immune system.
But if a bird finds a way inside the house then you might be in trouble. Birds seem nice creatures but when they decide to act friendly to humans in large numbers they can cause a variety of problems.
